I recently run into a syncing issue after few days of experimentation that worked well. I really enjoyed using the app and was considering subscribing for a year, but I am reconsidering this now because syncing seems the pillar functionality, and if it is not working, the web portal seems useless investment to me. I hope you can help me figure this out.
The screenshots show some totals from the past few days. They are taken from the web portal and from the iPhone.
Below is the iPhone totals for each day.
Below is the Web Portal totals for each day.
same totals = 3-20, 3-21, 3-22
different totals on these days :
3-23 : iPhone = 73:32, web portal = 64:47, iPhone has about 9 m more
3-24 : iPhone = 95:59, web portal = 91:14, iPhone has about 5 m more
3-25 : iPhone = 43:24, web portal = 17:45, iPhone has about 25 m more
why this difference?
Note iPhone has always a total higher then the web portal on these 3 days.
Do I have to follow a syncing procedure when logging my data? I did not think about it before. I used to simply log an entry, then if I notice a data is not showing on a platform, i randomly sync on either iPhone or web portal, not following an order in particular. Sometimes i do it even on both "just to make sure" all is synced. And it used to work. Until today. I noticed things went very wrong.
Let me know if I should press sync every time I enter a data entry. That is an extra step that I hope I will not need to do. Maybe there is a lag time that is causing this issue. Or maybe there is a normal lag time that I need to be aware of so I avoid running into similar issues again in the future. I hope you can help with this problem, your help is much appreciated.
These are few tests that may help you :
Test 1 :
I added an entry in the web portal. Nothing shows up on iPhone immediately after. So I manually click sync button on the web portal. Still, nothing shows up on the iPhone. Then i click the sync button on the iPhone. The new entry shows up on the iPhone.
Test 2 = Opposite of Test 1 :
I added an entry on the iPhone A-Tracker app. Nothing shows up on the web portal immediately after. So I manually click sync button on the iPhone A-Tracker App. Still, nothing shows up on the web portal. then i click the sync button on the web portal. Still, the new entry does NOT shows up on the web portal.
Test 3 = Test 1 with a small difference
I added an entry in the web portal. I did not click the sync button. I started the chronometer and waited to see if there is a lag time. 3 minutes passed, and nothing showed on the iPhone app. i then did the exact procedure of test 1 (sync web portal then sync iPhone), and the entry showed successfully on the iPhone app.
Test 4 = Test 1 with a small difference
I added an entry in the web portal. Very soon after, I DID click the sync button on the web portal ONLY. I started the chronometer and waited to see if there is a lag time. 3 minutes passed, and nothing showed on the iPhone app. i then click sync on the iPhone app, and the entry showed on the iPhone successfully.
I skipped doing the chronometer test for Test 2 (like in Test 3 & 4) because I felt ok assuming it would be useless and it would likely result in a sync failure. So I preferred to save these few minutes and skip the test.
Test 1, 2 & 4 show that syncing from the web portal to the iPhone is working, but manual intervention is needed.
Test 3 shows syncing from the iPhone to the web portal is not working, despite manual syncing.
That is weird because I feel lots of my past entries started on the iPhone, and it used to work. So what changed that made this stop working?
Thanks for your help.
