Bug: Adds extra default task on system upgrade
Noticed when recently updating to a new version of Android that bonus task are added the task list. I'm sure most free users find this to be a feature considering the free app limit is 5 and this bug extends that. I guess I'm not complaining so much as reporting a bug.
Is the source to this open at all? I would like to take a look. What one spends their day doing is a pretty personal thing to share to a company you know nothing about and code there may or may not be access to.
This bug did also bring attention to the fact that the floating action button can obscure the run button on last task on the list.
Thanks for using ATracker!
We do not have similar issue reported before. The task should only be added when you install the app.
As ATracker app is not connect to any server at all unless user subscribe to our web sync solution, we do not have any access to your data at all.
All data are only stored locally on device and no info are sent to our server (unless user subscribe and create account in ATracker).
For the floating action button, it does obscure the run button. But you should be able to start the task by tapping anywhere on that row.
Hope it clarified the questions. If not, please send us an email (email@example.com) with screenshot.
Thanks and have a nice day!Comment actions
Thanks for the response Jian,
Good to know about the data, definitely makes me feel more comfortable about using the app casually.
Attached is a screenshot. I've got more than five task with the free version. Sure, seems like the five task are added when one installs the app. A couple of Android system updates have triggered that scenario twice for me. Where it does the add of the initial 5 along with existing user task. Same set of initial "start-up" task. The code should be pretty easy to identify, doubtful it was expected to run more than once in testing. I've had to delete a bunch of task. Should have been 15 total. Might be reproducible by reinstalling the app, if the user data doesn't get wiped away in that case. Not something I'm going to test though given a potential loss of data.
There would be almost no motivation for a free user to report this issue. I just think its important for software devs to get paid for their work. Part of the Atracker up-sell is adding more task. Personally I think more that 7 or so task complicates the use case I have, but obviously many potential customers are going to want more. Your pricing is reasonable, I would pay if touched my exact use case. I might end up building something that shows percentages of a budget spent which is my exact use case. Right now I can only see how well I do when I compare at the end of the month. Access to the web app would be another big deal which is already part of the subscription.
